The Opquast Digital Quality Framework - Rule n° 154

Rule n° 154 - Navigating does not cause pop-ups to open.

#Accessibility #Conception #Navigation #Eco-conception

Goal

  • Allow users to navigate the website without having to perform any particular actions during their navigation.
  • Prevent users of technical aids from becoming disoriented when a new window opens, which will not always be perceptible and which disrupts the use of the browsing history, in particular, or hides the main window on a screen reader.
  • Improve the way content is taken into account by search engines and indexing tools.

Solution technique

Do not use the automatic opening of popup windows (a window opening event when a page is loaded) on the internal pages of the website.

Moyen de contrôle

This best practice should be checked manually during all the other tests, taking care to deactivate any possible popup blocking functionality in the browser being used.

In all internal pages of the website:

  • Check that navigation in the internal pages of the website does not trigger automatic opening of new windows.
