Rule n° 134 - Underlining cannot be used for elements other than hyperlinks.

Internet users are used to associating underlined content with links. Underlining content that is not links will cause unnecessary clicks. Be careful, this rule does not mean that you have to underline your links.

Goal

  • Prevent pointless clicking on underlined content perceived as hyperlinks.
  • Simplify the identification of links.

Implementation

Do not use the underline for simple text or items that are not links.

  • Identify the underlined texts on the site;
  • Check the nature of this content to verify whether they are hyperlinks.
