Rule n° 169 - An unsubscribe link is provided in each newsletter.

Being able to unsubscribe easily from a newsletter is highly appreciated by users. You can try to prevent them from doing so, but you risk exposing yourself to complaints or reproaches.

  • Allow subscribers to stop receiving a newsletter.

Include a hyperlink to unsubscribe in each newsletter.

This verification requires that the user subscribes to the newsletter in question and receives a copy.

For each website offering a subscription to a newsletter:

  • Check that the newsletters have hyperlinks to unsubscribe;
  • Check that the process is running correctly and that it does actually lead to the subscription being cancelled.
