Rule n° 214 - The server does not force redirects from the desktop version to the mobile version or application.

It is perfectly possible to detect a context of use and to offer mobile terminal users a dedicated version of the site, and to do the same for desktop users, equipped with a conventional computer. The problem is that some users may need a specific version, either because they cannot find what they are looking for on the mobile version, or because the mobile version is less convenient. Leave your users free to override the choice you offer them by default.

Goal

  • leave the choice of version to the users and their own personal preferences.
  • Reduce the energy impact related to the consultation of the site.

Implementation

Do not redirect to the mobile version on the server side (in dynamic serving or in the case of a dedicated mobile version) without the user having the option to deactivate this redirection.

Control

Manually check that it is possible to access the desktop version from a mobile device.
